Do Great Things! Durham Technical Community College is hiring anAdjunct Instructor for Plumbing. The adjunct instructor of plumbing is responsible for teaching the fall and /or spring plumbing courses and working with the Director in Construction Trades to plan, implement, and coordinate instruction.
The adjunct instructor is responsible for course preparation, delivery, and record keeping.
Teach all courses, as assigned, for the full duration of scheduled instruction
Enforce academic policy and procedures, and comply with institutional rules and regulations.
Assume responsibility for off-site/ classroom prep, including maintenance and clean-up.
Must complete mandatory training.
Must be a licensed plumbing contractor.
Work Experience:
Candidate must have a minimum of 5 years of on-the-job experience or a combination of training and experience.
- Planning and conducting both classroom instruction and lab activities to instruct in plumbing theory, plumbing repair, faucets and fixtures, and drains and sewers.
- Knowledge and understanding of relevant disciplines, including basic plumbing repair and installation.
- Knowledge of proper clothing, safety, tool use and maintenance.
- Ability to establish, maintain, and promote effective communication and interpersonal relations across departmental lines, with associates, as well as with the business community, the higher education community, and the general public
- Ability to demonstrate sensitivity to the needs and expectations of students, faculty, staff and advisory or community groups
- Understanding of the mission, goals, and objectives of a community college.
- Excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to think creatively and put ideas into action
- Personal integrity, honesty, and the ability to maintain confidentiality

Specific work hours are to be determined by the scheduled class hours and by consultation with the supervisor. Hours are not guaranteed but are based on student enrollment and faculty needs.
